(English translation): Title: PAHLA research presented to Huarochirí mayors, NGOs On June 28, 2011, the Huarochirí–Upper Lurín Archaeological Project (PAHLA) had the great opportunity of presenting its archaeological research to the Non-governmental Organization (NGO) Global Center for Development and Democracy, before several Huarochirí district mayors (the Municipal Association of the Lurín Valley Basin) and the NGO Aquafondo. The meeting was called primarily to support an immense and important project of providing irrigation by means of a trans-territorial canal. There was a presentation of the video Integrated Water Management in the Upper Lurín River Basin: The Experience of San Andrés de Tupicocha, about the impressive achievements and projected advancements in water management in San Andrés de Tupicocha, through the vision and leadership of Tupicocha’s reelected mayor, Mesias Teodoro Rojas Melo. PAHLA was invited to present at this meeting by Gabriela Merino Velásquez, Tourism Advisor for the Provincial Municipality of Huarochirí. Director Zach Chase and Licensed Archaeologist Abraham Imbertis attended the meeting to get acquainted and present some of PAHLA’s findings. Our research was received very cordially, and with enthusiasm and support. We were able to talk about coverage by the Lima press, as well as PAHLA’s other current activities and future plans.
It was a pleasure attending this meeting and getting to know these groups of professionals. We hope to contribute to these worthy projects and to enjoy collaboration in the future.
